  • What styles of yoga do you offer?
    The creator of the space and teacher, Armen Menechyan, is a 500 hour certified yoga teacher with 250 additional hours of training in the growing field of Yoga Therapy and SATYA (Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement). Most sessions are offered through the therapeutic lens and are trauma-informed.
  • Do you recommend booking community events in advance?
    Events do often sell out. We find that with our cozy and intimate space, it is recommend to book in advance as our space is limited. We would hate to have to turn you away in the case the space is full.
  • Where should I park?
    There is a parking lot as you enter the building from the left. Spots #1 and #6 are reserved for Pür Joy clients. There is plenty of paid parking on Hillhurst and lots of residential spots available during group sessions. It will be first come first served.
  • Where is Pür Joy Yoga located?
    We are located at 1910 Hillhurst Avenue part of the Los Angeles Emotional Wellness Group on the second floor.
  • Do you have classes suitable for beginners?
    All private sessions that are offered are suitable for beginners. For special workshops and classes, the description will indicate if it is not suitable for beginners. We pride ourselves on accessibility. Yoga is for all bodies.
  • What should I bring to my first session?
    You should wear comfortable clothing. Bring water and your mat if you have one. We also sell them in the retail area.
  • What if I have an injury? Can I still practice yoga?
    Always consult your physician first and inform the teacher of your injury before attending class. Good news is that most students and practitioners attend Pür Joy Yoga because of pain or discomfort.
  • What is Pür Joy Yoga?
    At Pür Joy Yoga, the intention is simple. Here we remind you that joy is innate and unconditional. Here your emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellness matter. All are welcome here. It is our belief that community and individual healing go hand in hand. Feeling safe and at ease begins with dedicating time and space for you.
  • Do you sell yoga mats?
    Yes, we sell B Yoga mats, blocks, straps and other items in the retail area.
  • Do you offer corporate classes virtually?
    Yes, we currently work with a few corporate and non-profit clients virtually. We are also available to visit on-site within a 25 mile radius of Los Feliz, CA.
  • Are there showers or changing rooms at Pür Joy?
    We do not have showers but there is a restroom where you are free to use.
  • Can I do somatic therapy with traditional therapy?
    We have found many of our clients have reached a point in their talk therapy where they need more support with getting into their bodies. We support body practices here. That is actually what we do with somatics. Check it out!
  • What is somatic healing?
    Somatic trauma healing therapy focuses on a person's physical and mental connection during treatment. In our heartful therapeutic sessions, we aim to heighten sensory awareness and with time, release physical tension and discomfort in the body working directly with myofascial pain and energy which may be stuck in your joints, tissues and organs. This is the core of somatics.
  • What are some yoga practice etiquette?
    Turn off your cell phone. No personal items should be on the practice floor. These include: purses, backpacks, yoga mat bags, water bottles, etc. Arrive on time for your session and let the teacher know if you are running late. Please remove your shoes upon entering the room.
  • Can I eat before class?
    Come hydrated and allow 2-3 hours for digestion after large meals before you get here.
  • Do you offer Private Yoga classes?
    Yes, please see the services page for our 50 minute and 80 minute sessions. Our main objective is to meet the individual needs of our client based on their specific therapeutic needs which are often not addressed in group sessions.
  • Do you host private events at Pür Joy?
    We love hosting private wellness events at Pür Joy. In the past we have worked with executives, professionals, creatives and artists. We create experiences to inspire creativity and peace.
  • Do you offer sliding scale?
    We do believe that access to healing and community care should be accessible. We may offer sliding scale for 1:1 somatic and yoga therapy sessions based on request. However, we are very much excited to offer all of our community events at a very accessible minimum rate. If for any reason you are unable to pay the minimum, we ask that you write to us and we'd be happy to comp you. We wish we could do this for free! That said, we offer folks the ability to pay it forward, which over time, who knows, we may be able to our evening and weekend events free of charge. That's our goal!
